Carolyn Update # 12

Wow! This is a lot harder than I expected. Medical professionals, my cousin, and friends are saying, “Listen to your body.” Managing the pain, slowing the pace, and being patient with the process are the priorities. None of them are easy for me. But bodies can be effective communicators. So I’m listening.

News from South Korea is encouraging and fast-paced. I’m so glad Frank was able to make the trip. Although I’m thinking he’s going to need to do some listening to his own body when he gets back on Saturday. I can’t wait to have him home again.

In the meantime, I am blessed with the most incredibly loving care of family and friends.

Thanks again for praying!

Carolyn

Glad to hear your are progressing, albeit more slowly than you would like.

I just read the following excerpt from Daniel Shlueter's book, “In the Crucible” and it made me think of you. He is speaking during his post-surgical “waiting” which seemed to be slower than he wished.

“The sense behind the Hebrew word 'wait' in Isa. 40:31 is a twisting that produces strength. When something is twisted, the tension produces strength, which then produces endurance, which builds our character and results in hope (Rom. 5:3-4). Our waiting is not just sitting around passing time. Waiting means our hearts are being strengthened so that you and I can expectantly put our hope in the Lord because we know that He is doing His work, His way, in His time, which, because He loves us, has to be the very best…His promise to renew our strength so that we will be able to run and not grow weary and walk and not grow faint, encourages us to wait patiently for Him.”

My prayers are with you during this special time of His strengthening in your life.

Your post makes me smile. So hard to sit, when you run. Glad you are listening to your body and others counsel. You will come back stronger. Continued prayers and love.

Carolyn (my daughter’s name is Karolyn, <> she just turned 45) I hope you don’t mind if I offer a small word of encouragement.

This too will pass. I imagine you’ve heard that quote before. It will. But because there are spiritual lessons here, I pray for you that you will cherish these times. Find the spicy meat. Embrace it. And when it is all past I am hoping that you will carry a precious jewel of wisdom from it, one that will sparkle in your life forever. Truly, that can happen. You are a gifted woman of God. And it is quite possible that God has allowed this time in your life in order to reach you with some precious bit of knowledge that probably wouldn’t be noticed otherwise. And then you will have a new strength to minister with.

I have great faith in your ability to find the treasure in this experience. Praying for deep blessings for you. 🙂
